Group Fitness Instructors

Andrea: Conditioning Step, RPM
I grew up in an athletic family and started instructing group fitness in 1991.  I am certified by AFAA as a Group Fitness Instructor and Advanced Personal Trainer; I am also certified in RPM, BodyStep, Resist-A-Ball and YogaFit.

Outside of the gym I am a chiropractor.  My practice is in Tumwater.  Whether leading a class or in my office, I strive to assist others in achieving and maintaining optimal health!
Charlotte: BodyCombat

I am completely driven and addicted to the BodyCombat program here at the Westside Athletic Club.  If you don't see me teaching class, it's pretty much guaranteed I'm there supporting my fellow combat team and taking class. I began participating in class just over two and a half years ago, after I physically healed from a domestic violence assault in an abusive relationship. I immediately fit into class and began coming more and more, as it was a release on my aggression and pain from my past. BodyCombat has become very healing for me and is something I am extremely passionate about. I was encouraged to go through the Les Mills BodyCombat instructor training in February of 2008, and I am now a certified instructor. I love the music pounding, sweat flying, and intense energy in the class. It's an unexplainable feeling to be able to share this experience with others. I couldn't have done it without my Westside Athletic Club family and friends, and I feel privileged and honored to belong to such and amazing group and its members.

Diane: BodyPump, BodyStep

I got hooked on group fitness in college, and have been teaching group fitness classes since 1984. I am certified in BodyPump, BodyStep, BodyFlow, and BodyJam. It is so inspiring to see new and long-time members having such a good time getting and staying fit - I am so blessed to play a role in those experiences!

I also work part-time for the Department of Ecology as a Management Analyst. I am married to a wonderfully supportive husband, and mother to three adult children, and two teenagers.

Jennifer: BodyPump, RPM

Being physically fit became very important to me when my dad (48 years young) had a heart attack, which resulted in a five bypass surgery. I then resolved (as did he) to make being fit a priority in my life.

In 1994, I trained to become a certified instructor, and I’m certified to teach BodyPump RPM, and BodyStep. As a group fitness instructor, it's my goal to make that commitment a fun and entertaining journey - one push-up at a time!

Jodi: BodyPump, Conditioning Step

I have been a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer at the Westside Athletic Club since 1985. The camaraderie and energy of group fitness is amazing.  It has been great to experience the evolution and progression of the fitness industry as we strive to provide new, exciting, fun and safe programs for our clients. I am certified in BodyPump and Bodystep, and currently teach BodyPump and Conditioning Step.

Kate: BodyCombat, BodyFlow, BodyPump
When I came to the Westside Athletic Club, I was intrigued by the group fitness program and found the enthusiasm of the instructors and members contagious. I am certified in BodyFlow, BodyCombat, and BodyPump (programs I am passionate about), and enjoy sharing the benefits of fitness and the energy of these classes.

Kathie: BodyStep

Since childhood I have loved music and moving to it. Expressing myself through dance and rhythmic movement of some kind has always been natural for me, and with great enthusiasm I was told. I have been a fitness instructor for eight years; seven of them at one of the world's finest clubs: the Westside Athletic Club. I am certified in BodyStep, BodyFlow, and BodyJam.

As a wife and mother, working out has been a great stress relief. I also work at Dermatology and Allergy Specialists of Olympia, and the work-outs at the gym help prepare me for all aspects of life; work, family, and recreation.

Lori: BodyPump, BodyStep

In the early 1980's, I was involved in competitive body building, and I have been involved in teaching aerobics and weight training at the Westside Athletic Club since 1994. I am certified in BodyPump, BodyStep, and BodyJam. It is amazing to see the evolution of group fitness and the research now available to reinforce the benefits of staying fit.

I am also a Registered Nurse and work in Labor and Delivery at Madigan Hospital. My passion is spending time with my husband and two wonderful boys snow skiing, water skiing, or catching a Seahawks game.

Lorraine: BodyPump, BodyStep, RPM

I am a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree from Seattle Pacific University. I started teaching Group Fitness classes  in 1998. I am certified in BodyPump, RPM, and BodyStep, and am also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.

I am married to a wonderful man and have two active boys, ages 16 and 12. We all enjoy skiing, boating, and outdoor pursuits. To keep up with these these guys, as well as the small "farm" we live on, I really need to stay in shape!

Nadine: BodyCombat, BodyFlow, BodyPump

I was born in Germany, and graduated from high school and physical therapy school there. My husband, oldest daughter, and I moved to the States in 2001.

After the birth of my second daughter, in 2002, I became certified to teach group fitness and kickboxing. I am certified to teach BodyPump, BodyFlow, BodyCombat, and BodyJam. I also am an ACE certified Personal Trainer, and am experienced in using Nautilus machines, free weights, stability & Bosu Ball, as well as designing custom programs.

Rebecca: BodyFlow
I joined the WAC in late 2006, and it was the best decision for my health. I have lost 35+ pounds, met the most wonderful people, and have made some of the best friends ever. Thanks to WAC, I am now certified in BodyCombat and BodyFlow, and part of the most fabulous group fitness team in the area. I look forward to continuing on my health journey and helping others on theirs too. I cannot thank my family and friends at WAC enough!!!

In my spare time, I work almost full-time for the Department of Ecology in the Information Technology department and have two wonderful children; Ariel, 13; and Luke, 3.

Sue: Conditioning Step
I've been teaching group fitness for over 30 years (yikes!) and have seen many trends come and go. Fun, inspired classes never go out of style, and that's what we do at the Westside Athletic Club. I  was the owner of Take Shape Fitness (now the Westside Athletic Club) for 23 years, and I love coming in every day as an employee.

Tara: BodyCombat, BodyFlow

I have been teaching group fitness classes since 1999. I am certified in BodyCombat, BodyStep, and BodyFlow.

While away from the gym, I am a mother of two very lively (and lovely!) children. I’m a Certified Public Accountant and work full-time for Versata Home Loans. I also work as an independent auditor for the Washington State Lottery. I need loads of energy to maintain all aspects of my life. Staying healthy and strong helps make it happen.

Vanessa: Yoga

I studied yoga philosophy, history, and asanas in-depth at The Evergreen State College for four years. When I graduated Evergreen, I decided to become a teacher through a 200-hour program at the Wild Grace Teacher Training Program. When I  finished, I continued to deepen my practice through trainings with renowned teachers such as Shiva Rea and Aadil Palkhivala.
